Wednesday - Run Away Without Leaving Home

I've never been to Lisbon....  but I really, really want to go.

So -

Because of this.....

And then I saw this.....

On Sunday I went to J. Crew and bought these....

Bring on the summer!

This Charming House

We're so in love with the powder room right now!

And when I say "we" I really mean "me" but others have been kind enough to pretend that they share in my happy enthusiasm....

Now all that is left to do is re-paint the trim - but that's job for a future weekend.

Tuesday's Girl

"There were times when I hated my nose.  But you grow up and you start to recognize that maybe it wasn't a bad thing that you weren't born Barbie."
Anjelica Huston

This Charming Dowager Countess

I was late to the party on Downton Abbey - but I'm all caught up now!

I love, love, love Maggie Smith.

Here she is.  Enjoy!

This Charming House

It's our anniversary today!

Four years ago, we became homeowners!

Happy Birthday, little house.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday, everyone.

Last week was a long week - and I didn't even work!

The work at Chateau Bee Charmer did not go entirely as planned and most of it is still totally up in the air.  I'll have some shots of progress later in the week but right now - it's still a mess upstairs and starting this Thursday we have house guests!  Oh, well.  I'm sure it will work itself out.

For now, the powder room is happily, happily finished.  The carpets are clean, the curtains will be back from the cleaners *hopefully, fingers crossed* by Wednesday and the guest bathroom will be finished by tonight.

Oh - and then we have the Beans, my job and lots of other (very good) stuff going on right now.

So thanks for stopping in!

Stay tuned for tile pictures later this week!

Random Pretty Man

So - I'm watching Downton Abbey now.

And Rob James-Collier play "Thomas", who is a horrible, horrible character.

Thankfully, at least he's pretty while he's being horrible.

Happy Weekend!

Happy Weekend, everybody!

The Beans are at the spa today and I'm home with carpet cleaners.  Fun!

And then later we're gonna see about grouting the bathroom and getting the toilet out of the bathtub....

Hopefully, we'll have some fun updates on the house progress by next week.

The Weekly Bean

There is stuff going on downstairs.....

And you know I should be supervising it at the very least.

But I'm stuck up here alone in puppy prison.

*heavy sigh*

Sometimes my life is so hard.

This Charming House

It's a horrible mess here.....

But the new sink is divine!

Work is underway on the guest bathroom!

The pale blue paint is gone - replaced by Dove White from Benjamin Moore.  You can't tell much about it from this picture, but I'm very happy with it.

Here's a little preview of the new tile.  The linoleum will be outta there and replaced by 3x6 marble tile in Grecian White.......

And here's what 25 square feet of tile looks like - stacked up on the floor of the guest bedroom.

Tomorrow:  New sink, toilet and faucet in the powder room!  I'm giddy.....

Tuesday's Girl

"There was such an incredible logic to kissing, such a metal-to-magnet pull between two people that it was a wonder that they found the strength to prevent themselves from succumbing every second.  Rightfully, the world should be a whirlpool of kissing into which we sank and never found the strength to rise up again."
Ann Patchett, Bel Canto.

Have A Little Faith In Me

I'm in the mood for John Hiatt this week.

This Charming Closet

I wish I could wear this outfit......

I could wear the shorts.  But they cost $495!

Damn you, Michael Kors!!!!!

Happy Monday

Happy Monday, everyone!!!

I'm spending the day drinking coffee, catching up on Downton Abbey and trying to find enough tile to finish tiling the bathroom floor.

Yeah - it's been a thing....

Stay tuned this week - I'm hoping to have some house progress updates very soon.

Happy Weekend!

Have a great weekend!

We are beginning to gear up for the great spring cleaning expedition here at Chateau Bee Charmer.

And we're doing some other (more fun) stuff, too.

So stay safe!

And we'll see you on Monday!

The Weekly Bean

Little Miss Bean has discovered the sun room couch.

And it's only taken 4 years!

It's hard to be her lately.

State of Wonder

I am a huge Ann Patchett fan and if you haven't read her books, you really should start.

State of Wonder is our book club's next pick and I just loved it.  And the preliminary reports from the other girls in the club is that no once could put it down.

If you haven't heard about it, here's a little blurb from Time Magazine:
Mild-mannered Marina Singh is sent by a drug company to Brazil to find her onetime mentor, the imperious Dr. Annick Swenson, who hasn't been heard from in two years. Swenson is deep in the Amazon, studying women of an obscure tribe who can bear children into their 60s and 70s. But Swenson has gone off the rails, and Singh has to play Marlow to her Kurtz in a Heart of Darkness for the pharmaceutical era.
This is a bit of a simplification - but I'm afraid to say more for fear of spoiling it.  There are definitely Heart of Darkness overtones but Patchett has a way of drawing you in and at one point, reading the first chapter while getting a pedicure I found myself choking back tears in the nail salon.

That isn't a usual problem while reading in public.

This book is about an expedition into the Amazonian jungle but in my experience, Patchett's books are never about what they're about.... if you get my meaning.

Maybe you don't -

But in any event, grab this book.  You will not be sorry.

Will be mine.

I am in love with these cute workout bras from Target in fun colors!

And I don't have a lot to support here, so if you're busty, this may not work for you....

Happy Weekend!

Happy Weekend, everyone!

The spring spruce up here at Chateau Bee Charmer is getting ready to shift into high gear in a couple of weeks so I'm going to be shopping for paint and tile this weekend.  Along with cheap lamps and mirrors....

Did I say 'Cheap'?

I didn't really mean 'cheap' so much as 'cost effective'....

Yeah, that's it.

I'm also cleaning, sorting, cooking and napping.  Not necessarily in that order.

So stay safe and warm this weekend and if you're someplace snowy, snuggled down.

And I'll see you on Monday.

Somebody is a little 'needy' and will be given lots of extra attention this weekend....

You know, know, know how much I love Lillian Bassman, don't you?

The woman is an artist!

I think I need to have this.....

Rachel Zoe

The Night Circus

Oh, my!

I LOVED this book.  LOVED IT!!!

Pure, enchanting, fun, escapist, delightful, romantic fantasy!

How's that for a read in dreary late winter?

If you just want to disappear into a book - grab it.

This Charming Handbag

So - I got my nails done last week - which I hate because there is nothing to do but sit there.

During these times in the nail salon, I amuse myself by stalking the handbags of other women.

Have I admitted this here before?

Not only am I obsessed with my own handbags, I am also obsessed with other women's handbags.  I'm serious.  A cute handbag on someone else's arm can, has and will stop me dead.  And then I try to figure out:  Why did she pick that bag?

I saw this one last week and now it's all I can think about.

The GG Twins Large Hobo from Gucci.

Happy Monday

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

My weekend was busy and Sunday has found me sleepy, tired and on the couch with a book and a fire and two corgi's barking at the neighborhood.

The weather here has been gray and drizzly all weekend but next week is supposed to be nicer.

Is anyone else getting excited for spring?
