Orchids

I'm giving them a try again.

Keep your fingers crossed that I don't kill them. At least not immediately.

I Won! Take Two. The Major Prize Arrived!

I told you a couple of weeks ago that I won a very cool Jonathan Adler Claridge Lamp at an online giveaway sponsored by my sweet friend Sarah over at Serendipity.

It has arrived!

Here it is on the side table in the guest bedroom. It makes an excellent "top of the steps" night light.

Corgi Party!

Our good friend Winston (and his mama, Cathy) came over for dinner and a visit last week!

We were so excited to see them.

Although Lola refused to pose for pictures, Finn and Winston were happy to oblige.

Here they are relaxing after a game of fetch. In case you're confused, Finn is on the right and Winston is on the left.

Love Your Skin

Once one reaches a certain age, one notices that one's skin is not as, shall we say, tolerant, as it used to be.

When you're 18 you can wash your face or not wash your face. You can moisturize or not. When you're 18 you've never heard of sunscreen, yet alone the recommended SPF.

And you still look great.

However, once you hit your late 30's, you realize: I've got to pay more attention to my skin or I'm going to look like an old shoe.

Two or three years ago, after my last trip to France, I came home and my face was in a state. I love Paris but every time I go there I come home with skin that is dry, flaky and breaking out. I don't know whether it's the food or the water or the plane, but I'm always a mess after France. (As a side note, I will tell you that I did not have this problem in the aftermath of Italy. The water there is divine.)

Back to my story -

When I got back it was so bad I scheduled an appointment with my dermatologist and was directed to the aesthetician in her office. She turned me on to Skinceuticals and I have to say - I love it.

However, I am not hear to plug Skinceuticals (although if you comment, I will tell you about it.) I am here to plug SkincareRX, where I buy the Skinceuticals online.

The Skinceuticals line is extensive and expensive. Although, I hate to call it expensive. While it isn't cheap, I have found that it does work and you get a lot of product for the money. But, ya know, in this economy, every little bit helps.

Enter SkincareRX.

They have the whole line, they have free overnight shipping, their customer service is to DIE FOR, they don't charge sales tax and, here's the kicker, if you Google "SkincareRX Coupon" you can usually get 20% off!

Y'all!

I can't do any better than that in town!

If you have beauty and/or skin care needs, please go check them out. SkincareRX makes me happy and I hope you can enjoy them, too.

New Living Room

Here are the new sofa and chair.

I love the way my grandmother's table looks beside the chair. I think Grandmother would probably be appalled, though, especially after she realized that I not only stripped it, but that I also spray painted it black.

Now we can really kick in and buy some accessories!

The New Couch - Really

I decided to go with the Petrie from Crate and Barrel in white. I'm showing it to you here in pink just for effect.

I also got a matching chair.

I know it's different than my original intentions seemed to suggest but I've gone in a different direction for a number of reasons:

First, Room and Board is in Atlanta, I don't want to make a special trip down there right now, I have had some bad experience with their customer service in the past and the couch I picked out there is shockingly similar, in my opinion, to the one I can't wait to get rid of. They also discontinued said sofa in the color that I need.

Now -

I've always loved the Petrie and after I started seriously thinking about it this weekend, I went back through my scrapbook and realized how many times the same or similar sofa appears in my book. I really hadn't noticed it before but I think it's telling. Also, my current tables and other furniture really soften the look so it doesn't get too George Jetson in here.

It's also the right size and I find it immensely comfortable.

The fact that it's white gives me heart palpitations. It seems so frivolous to me, buying a white sofa. Suffice it to say that such craziness is not undertaken in Appalachia. I'm sure my mother will think I've lost my mind. Kinda exciting, though! The white couch, I mean, not my mother thinking I've lost my mind. She's thought that for a long while, I think, and it's sorta true but that's a whole other blog.

Back. To. The. Couch.

They are delivering it next Thursday.

I can't wait!

Fuzzy Pillow Love

I want one of these pillows for the house.

I also want a new couch to throw it on, but we already know that.

This is Ali Wentworth's fault.
