Lauren Adams Art

So my friend, Sarah, found this great artist on Etsy and pointed her out to me because she's from West Virginia!

And I love her and not just because she's from West Virginia - although that certainly doesn't hurt....

Y'all know I support my peeps!

Her name is Lauren Adams and I think she's just the cat's pajamas!  I have purchased 2 of her works on paper to hang in my soon to be spiffed up master bathroom - again more on that when I get some blogging gumption...

But in the meantime, if you'd like to check out Lauren's work you can do so at her Etsy shop or directly from her website.

This Charming House

Lately, I've been totally crushing on graphic, black and white modern art.

I'm obsessed!

Black Cross by Kasimir Malevich

6AOUT by Pierre Soulages

Untitled, 1957 by Franz Kline

Untitled by Gary Hume

I've actually asked my parents to buy me the Kline poster for Christmas.  I think I will love it upstairs in my office.

AND....  I bought a little 'Black Cross' postcard at The Pompidou Centre in Paris last May.  Here it is, in all it's tiny glory, framed in my living room.  Somehow, I'll bet this wasn't what Kasimir Malevich had in mind...

Also?  How cool is my little brass 'push me/pull you' midcentury modern thing....

A Little Extra Pretty

Husk featured the work of artist John Thompson - throughout the restaurant.

It was absolutely beautiful and added so much to the experience.  Modern yet traditional and (I thought) a little edgy.  We definitely noticed it and commented on it as we were shown to our table and as we were eating.

Renaissance Bee Charmer

Y'all!  I'm like a TOTAL photographer and I didn't even know it!

I took this photo (on a wild ass trip to Belmont) and my darling friend Sarah has seen fit to frame it and display it in her living room!

Can you believe it?  Neither can I!  Who knew that an iPhone and an instagram app would turn me into an artiste?  She let me sign the mat and everything!

She also demanded I blog about it - otherwise I would not be tooting my own horn.....

Anyway - I love that she loves this photo enough to display it in her home.  And let this be a lesson to us all that beautiful, affordable, meaningful art doesn't need to be expensive or fancy.  It might just come from two friends having a good time exploring a neighboring town with a little, tiny hunk of Apple technology....

This Charming House

So I bought a piece of art a couple of weeks ago.

From Jen Ramos over at Cocoa and Hearts.

It's called Colors 13 and I am in love with it!

I look at art all the time and as acquisitions go, this was pretty inexpensive.  But I just loved it as soon as I saw it - and the way I know this is that all of her paintings are a bit similar but when I go to her website, I can always pick 'mine' out of a crowd.

I love the color combination and I just think it's girly and fun and yet it has a sophistication to it, at least to me.

It arrived last week and immediately found it's home on my mantle - where it provides a perfect little pop of color.  I haven't had it framed yet because I can't bear to part with it long enough to take it in!

Here is is in Chateau Bee Charmer:

A Little Extra Pretty

One of the things I love most about Elle Decor is that it provides me with a steady supply of art crushes.

This month they gave me Katherine Bowling, whose painting appears above.  It's my new favorite thing in the world.
