Hi, everybody!

I hope you all had a great weekend. 

We (The Boy) and I went down to Pinehurst to attend a friend's wedding and the spent Sunday cleaning the house, loving on two Beans and desperately trying to catch up with Mad Men. 

We're on to Season Four!  What can we say?  We've been dedicated catcher uppers. 

This week marks the end of a wonderful, yet extraordinarily (for me, anyway) busy 5 months.  This coming weekend, our darling Rebecca is being married and we have wedding festivities and house guests to attend to this weekend.  And the WVU game.

The summer months in Charlotte are just so .... hot.  Autumn is so much more enjoyable.  And the Beans love it.  So while we're not quite there yet, we got our first little hint of autumn this weekend and it was wonderful.

I'm back from the beach and a little sunburned. I feel embarrassed to admit that I voluntarily got some sun last week, but I did... For the first time in 13 years.  I have sun on my face and my freckles are huge!

Hi!

How was the weekend?

We laid around.  Hung with the kids.  Enjoyed the rain.  Shopped at Target.  Herded Beans.....

And I tried on rash guards at Dick's Sporting Goods.  I didn't actually buy one - they made me look like a stuffed sausage and since I was only buying one as sun protection anyway.... it wasn't such a heartbreaking situation that I didn't love them.  The Boy went with me.  He's good like that.

Oh - and we watched Mad Men.  We're about half way through Season One.  And we're pretty much obsessed.  I'm always playing catch up with these things.

This is going to be a short (in my mind) and COMPLETELY happy week.  Not because I know this, but because I want this to be so.  I'm going to will it with my mind.

My shrink used to think it was funny that I thought I could control the future with the force of my mind.   And you know that kind of awesome power weighs on a person.

We went away for the weekend.  It was divine.  We sat outside in cool mountain air, enjoyed the breeze, played with my nephews, herded corgis and watched shooting stars in the dark.....

It was just heavenly.  Or "Almost Heaven"-ly if you buy the hype....

We have endured yet another scorchingly hot weekend in North Carolina.  I'm not complaining but the heat is starting to wear me out.  I took naps all weekend and avoided being outside.  The good news is that the heat is supposed to break soon.

The Boy and I went on a fact finding mission to Ikea to look at bookshelves (for the on-going guest room redecoration), cabinets (for the laundry room) and shelving systems (for the garage).  Yeah, The Boy is handy and he thinks we need to organize a bit more.  He also thinks we should paint the garage (including the floor).

*heavy sigh*

Y'all know that my interest in a cute house does not extend to the garage....  But this is a fall project - so I can remain in denial for a few more months.

I've got lots of court this week - which generally helps the time pass so - yay!

How was your weekend?

Ours was H.O.T.

Red Hot Chili Pepper Hot. 

Too Hot to Live Hot. 

Seriously....

We thought cool thoughts and hung out under the air conditioning. 

We also napped, ate out and took in some theater. 

But basically, we were hot.

Hey!

I'm back.  Kinda.  I'm up in the air.  I'm all over the place....

I'm trying. 

So the biggest thing that happened since I've been gone is that I broke my toe....

AWWWWWW!!!!!

I KNOW! 

I was injured!

And I have to tell you I'm kinda appalled by the general lack of horror and sympathy that I've received from my friends.  It's like 'yeah, yeah, yeah...broken toe...whatever'....

So I hobbled around for a while (although the day after it happened I DID wear 4 inch heals to the wedding - I mean - I have a reputation to maintain) but now my foot (not my toe) is KILLING me.  I think I need to see a doctor - I mean, this could be bad!

Have I mentioned that I may or may not be a hypochondriac? 

The boy is fine.  The Beans are fine.  The house has been cleaner....

I'm incredibly happy, toe pain notwithstanding......

I don't know.  It's not so much that I'm down on Monday - I just wish the weekend was still going on.

Why is it that 2 days during the week seem to plod along and the weekend just flies? 

Mystery of life....

Basically, this weekend we kinda laid around the house and did not much. 

There was no stress, no rush, no urgency.  There was beautiful weather and patio time and a few mixed drinks. 

Good, huh? 

I think we're having a good week this week, at least I hope so.

Happy Monday

So - this has been the best spring that I can remember.  It may help that we really have had very little winter here in Charlotte.  Seriously, 50 and breezy has been about as bad as it's been.

This weekend on Sunday was breezy, rainy and cool.  But you know what?  I love spring days like that.  Especially when I know that it'll be 80 degrees again in a couple of days.

I caught up with some old friends this weekend.  The Boy was away and although I missed him, it's nice to know that I can still be content and myself without him.  It's nice to miss someone and look forward to their return.  It's not nice to be crazy and weird when you're away from them.  I'm happy to report that I'm happily smitten.

The other reason I love breezy, rainy spring days is that those are my favorite days in Paris.  I have a ridiculous love for Paris (in case you haven't noticed) and I often pine for it.  Any little hint of the feeling I have when I'm there is welcome and loved.  I got that on Sunday this weekend.

I hope you all had a great week last week.  Mine sort of flew by in some ways and seemed really interminable in others.  Maybe that's the way it is?  Oh well.

We're taking the week off...

I know, I'm a bad blogger.

I have a lot going on right now and I'm smitten so I've been preferring to spend my time with The Boy and I haven't been able to direct a lot of my attention to the blog.  And I feel really bad about it because the blog is important to me.  So I'm gonna take the week off and think about it and hopefully come back recharged.
