I read Tuck Everlasting last week.
It was so sweet and so haunting. It's a children's book so it only took about 90 minutes to read.
What would it be like to live forever? What if you couldn't die? Tuck and his family drink from a magic stream and find that they are stuck, frozen, unable to age and unable to die and find that their inability to participate fully in life (by dying) is a death in itself.
I highly recommend this for yourself (and if you have them, your kids).
