Sunday Afternoon

On Sunday afternoon, I went to get a pedicure.  My nail place is beside a very popular bar called The Selwyn Pub where civic minded residents often gather to watch sports events (like the ACC Tournament).  Actually, everywhere you looked today, people were glued to the game.

When I walked out of the nail salon, I could hear the people at the Selwyn screaming.

Then I scooted on over to Target and when I got to the check out the guy helping looks up at me, with tears in his eyes and says:

"We're losing!"

I said (very gently) "Carolina?"  (helpful hint - nobody in North Carolina means 'Duke' when they say 'We'.  FYI.)

And he said, quietly, tearfully and shaking his head "It's bad!"

I said "I'm sorry for your loss."

I love March Madness!!

  1. Last year we were eliminated in the second round. I flat out cried...not just tears in my eyes...but boo hoo'd. Sad...huh?

  2. No. I cried when WV won the Big East Tournament, when they beat Kentucky and when we lost in the Final Four. I've just never had open wailing in the streets before! Congrats on you #1 seed!

  3. I have never been a basketball fan, but after watching the end of the Virginia Tech game Friday night I got on board! Too bad we took a nose dive on Saturday.

Oh well! There's always next year :)

  4. I'm not ANY kind of a sports fan but I LOVE the NCAA Basketball tournament. I don't even CARE who wins (assuming WVU's not playing - then I do care). My neighborhood is COMPLETELY INFESTED with Hokies, FYI.
