Diana Vreeland D.V.

If you've never read D.V. and you want something fun to read for the summer, then by all means, pick it up.

Who else in the world has found herself out with Jack Nicholson and taking him to buy mustard packs for his back, staying at a hotel in the South of France when the exiled King of Spain showed up with his entourage (via battleship), stepping over dead people on her way out of a speakeasy while being careful not to get blood on her white satins shoes?  She was in Tunisia when Denys Finch Hatton died and heard the drums.  When rushing back to her Bavarian hotel she was confronted by carloads of Nazis, who pissed her off, because she was in a hurry to get to her bath so she and her husband wouldn't be late for a concert.

Oh, and then there were the Vogue years.....

My GOD this woman lived a life.

Read this book.  Commit portions of it to memory.
